of our past activities and 'Sevens' in close up

With so many regular events, month runs; holidays; attendance at shows and rallies; Teach-ins; Social events; repairs and restoration projects etc, there are numerous opportunities to take photographs.

Here is a selection for you to share our enjoyment of owning and driving an Austin Seven.  They are in no particular order within each group.  More pictures will be added in due course, so anything you feel has been missed has not been omitted or forgotten.  Enjoy, and share our enthusiasm for these super little cars.

Out for a Club run
With so many miles of narrow lanes and steep hills throughout Cornwall we are spoilt for choice when finding a route for a club run.  We enjoy runs each month throughout the year unless the weather is extremely bad.

Making a splash
Whenever possible a run will include a ford which provides for a bit of excitement; some drivers take it easy whilst others go for the big splash!

Whoops, made the wrong approach!

The roadside breakdown
Despite all the best pre-run preparation there is still the possibility of a breakdown; mostly it is a fuel feed, or minor electrical problem, and is soon sorted by the roadside.  Only rarely is a recovery service required.  Yes, two members have had their 'Sevens' brought home from Brittany.

. . . . and even the occasional accident
Our 'Sevens' are so strong that only minor damage occurred in these incidents.

Repairs and maintenance
Then there are the major tasks to be done when something fails big-time.

Restoration

Whether it is a 'Seven' owned by the family for many years or one bought as a restoration project it is a big task to make it roadworthy.

Enjoying a holiday
There have been several club holidays since the club was formed, all enjoyed by the members who make the long trek.  Holidays have been to East Germany; Le Mans; Brittany several times; Northern Spain; North Wales; Devon and Dorset coasts; the Isle of Wight.

Show displays
We encourage members to enter their 'Sevens' in local village shows that are held throughout Cornwall during the summer.  As a Club we arrange a display of 'Sevens' at the West of England Steam Engine Society 3-day Annual Rally each August together with a central theme; one year it was an engine rebuild against the clock - 33 mins 22 secs was the fastest, also we have had a cut-away engine and gearbox to show the inner workings.

Special occasions
Members have used their 'Seven' for a family, or a friend's, wedding; the funeral of a fellow enthusiast (out of courtesy not photographed); as an extra for a film and a prop in a village play.

Social events
Apart from club runs and holidays there are the few social events like the Christmas party, a Q & A evening and, for several years, an annual 1-day rally.

Centenary Celebration
We celebrated the Austin Motor Co. Centenary in 2005 with a 1-day rally and many members dressed in period costume.

Technical days
Technical knowledge is passed on to other members with winter-time 'Teach-Ins' if the need to cover a specific topic arises.  Some of the numerous topics covered have been:- inserting a helicoil, gearboxes, dynamos, rear axles, roadside breakdown repairs.

Other Seven Club's rallies
Many of our members go up-country to support the annual rallies of other 'Seven' clubs, and frequently win an award for the furthest travelled, best car of it's model etc.
