End
of year rum and a very nice meal..31st Dec.2007.
By Dennis,
who regularly travels down from Hemel Hempstead!
The day dawned fine but overcast. I had been given the responsibility
of driving Reg Charman in Betsy and was told that our
meeting place would be the vegetable lay-by on the A39
road to Truro.

Meet at the "veggy layby"
We
duly arrived and were very soon joined by seven or eight Austin
Sevens. Hugs, kisses and greetings were exchanged and we were
away to the next meeting point, where another group of Sevens
were waiting.More
hugs, kisses and greetings were given and I began to like this
very much indeed!!
We then made our way through the outskirts of Truro and up the
long hill on the A390. A few miles further on we took a right
hand turn towards Sticker and, very soon we reached the Hewas
Inn. En route, two Sevens had suffered with blocked carburettor
jets and one of our members had stood in something very unpleasant
while attending to the problem. He tried to put the blame on his
passenger, suggesting that she must be very ill!!
Difficulties overcome, we all arrived safely and I counted 15
Austin Sevens in the car parks.
Many more greetings were given and received inside the Inn and
we were delighted to see that Trevor Sharp had managed to join
us after his recent stroke. His nurse was also with
him and was making sure that he didnt overdo things.

Tucking in at the Hewas Inn
The meal was excellent; nice and hot with
good portions. The
staff were friendly and obliging to the few "extras"
that turned up. I was sorry to hear that a number of members who
would have been with us were either unwell or had to work
you were all missed.
All
in all for me, it was a lovely happy occasion and it was great
to be with so many good friends again.
Special thanks to Trevor and Andrea for making all the arrangements.
Happy New Year to you all and God Bless. ...Dennis
